Bastian Stein ist ein Musiker, der immer die richtige Balance zwischen der großen Form und dem spielerischen Augenblick findet. Perfektion findet er langweilig. Keine Idee wird so lange wie möglich ausgereizt. Im Gegenteil, was gesagt ist, ist gesagt, und was nicht gesagt werden konnte, kann man ja beim nächsten Mal erzählen. In dieser Beschränkung aufs expressiv Wesentliche liegt die große narrative Kraft seiner Musik.
